Melissa Bond
Certified Residential Appraiser licensed in Mississippi and Louisiana and the developer of the Mississippi Practical Appraiser Training program (MPAT), one of the first practicum-based training models created for aspiring appraisers. Since 1994, she has operated her own appraisal practice, serving clients that include VA, FHA, USDA, Fannie Mae, title companies, attorneys, school districts, and the general public.
In addition to her appraisal work, Bond is a multi-state continuing education provider and course author who has developed more than 40 courses for appraisers and related industry professionals.
Her leadership has also included service as a contract reviewer for state investigations, subject matter expert for licensing jurisdictions, and board member for several appraisal organizations, including the National Association of Appraisers and the Appraisal Standards Board.
This session is designed to help aspiring appraisers and other early-career entrants think more clearly and practically about how to begin well in the profession.
Drawing on real-world experience in training, mentoring, and appraiser development, the session will focus on the steps that matter most at the start: building a strong foundation, developing practical skills, understanding what the work really requires, and approaching the profession with more confidence and direction.
